Our granular application trucks can carry 4-15 tons and are equipped with a liquid pre-wet system. This additional system allows the salt granules to disolve faster and can de-ice up to -35º F. Our salt barn holds up to 1,000 tons at any given time, where we store both regular rock salt and pre-treated salt.
Granular application typically refers to rock salt or a pretreated rock salt. Rock salt is one of the most basic forms of deicing but only works efficiently to a temperature of +15 degrees. Deicing applications below 15 degrees requires a pretreated rock salt. Our most frequently used pretreated rock salt is made in house of rock salt, salt brine, and liquid calcium chloride.
In an effort to reduce salt in our waterways and enhance efficiency, we typically use a liquid application of deicer, however, in our storm specific targeting we find not every storm allows us to use a liquid application efficiently. In that circumstance we are prepared to apply a granular ice melt application keeping your parking lots and sidewalks safe.
